Your first 24 hours set the tone for the entire journey. This guide covers everything from landing at Mactan-Cebu Airport to your first night in housing.
Before Landing — On the Plane
- Fill out the Arrival Card if provided
- Keep passport and acceptance letter in your carry-on
- Have a small amount of pesos or dollars for emergencies
At the Airport
Immigration and Customs
Present your passport, acceptance letter, and proof of accommodation. Philippine immigration is used to international students — smile and be clear in your answers.
Pickup
If you booked pickup through Taa wa Seen or your institute, the representative waits with a name sign. Do not leave with random taxi drivers offering “help.”
Your First Tasks
- Buy a SIM card (Globe or Smart) — 200–500 pesos
- Let family know you arrived safely
- Transfer to housing and drop off luggage
- Quick tour of campus or neighborhood
- Rest — do not push yourself on day one
Keep in your carry-on: A printed copy of your acceptance letter, your housing address in English, and your institute coordinator’s phone number.
